I wrote the original
Don't Fall 4 the Fraud
article in January 2006. Events were moving so quickly that I had
to add updates in February 2006, July 2006, October 2006 and December
2006! Wow! When you have the extra time, you should study my reports.
However, for now, I would like to share a short update and sliver
synopsis for those that would like an honest overview.
Shiloh Shepherds are not
recognized as a "breed" -- by any legitimate dog organization!
Please review
Registries-What Are They?
The gene pool was started in 1974
by Tina M. Barber at
Shiloh Shepherd Kennels! It has continued for over 4 decades --
under HER supervision!
Since 1991, the
ISSR, Inc. has
continued to document all genetic data on every puppy born and Tina
continues to guide the Licensed Breeders as they help her to expand
the gene pool.
Upon completion of the gene pool
expansion program that has continued under the ISSR banner, the stud
books will be closed and only the ISSR database will be turned over
and
then all of the
dogs
registered within the ISSR will become an "official" breed.
The frauds that have been breeding
GSD mixes/whatever and proclaiming them to be "Shiloh Shepherds" are
only interested in selling their pups for a higher price! They
are NOT working with the ISSR (because of the strict rules?) and
NONE of these dogs will qualify for entry into the final registry be
it a FCI affiliate or AKC.
Read
the facts listed below!
Please take a look at the recent
outcrosses that are being used; most are listed below, broken down
into 4 groups, however, new ones seem to be added daily.
Beware!
A. AKC or CKC Registered German Shepherd Dogs
This group consists of German Shepherd dogs registered either
within the AKC or CKC. OFA information links are provided below if available.
OFA
database (listed as GSD)
AKC
Pedigree
Just look at these pedigrees! There are NO Shilohs in there!
For additional genetic information regarding
these dogs, please contact the kennels from which each originated. You
may also be able to obtain a puppy with honest AKC papers for even less
money!
B. AKC/UKC "Larger"
GSD's with some "Shiloh" blood...somewhere...
All of these dogs were bred by Selah (not Shiloh) kennels. Please don't confuse this
kennel name with one of the Shiloh Shepherd NB (New Blood) foundation
bitches--Sabrina-- who was produced by Don Baker, as can be clearly seen
via this
pedigree.
Alice Fisher did have
some NB (half) Shiloh progeny back in the late 80's but refused to relinquish her AKC papers so she just continued to do "her own thing" producing $400
pet quality pups within the AKC. Her daughter did not join her
program until much later, and since then they have been using the
"Selah" name, despite the fact that all of her former "part Shiloh
kennel" stock is
being outcrossed to other GSD's or inbred on Sabrina in order to produce
large dogs, even though there could potentially be serious health risks
(like SAS, VT, etc.) resulting from such a practice!
Please take a look
at this
pedigree Royal Aire is also breeding
these same dogs, but the pups are honestly evaluated and sold as
"oversized" GSD's with full AKC registrations! If you would like to
purchase a dog like this, from an honest breeder, may I suggest that you
contact
one of these.
Don't support
those that are trying to pass these dogs off as "Shiloh
Shepherds"
You may notice the
"Shiloh" kennel prefix on some of these dogs. However, if you examine
the pedigrees, you will be clearly able to see that they did not come
from the
real Shiloh Shepherd Kennel! It's just another ploy they are
using to defraud and confuse the consumer!
I
stopped using the "Shiloh" prefix for the ISSR dogs in 1990 -- 18 years
ago -- and if you examine our pedigrees today, you will see that the
Zion prefix has been used ever since!
If
anyone tries to claim that their dogs have the Shiloh kennel name in
their pedigree--RUN--because that dog must be close to 20 years old, and
certainly shouldn't be breeding puppies, unless it's via some kind of frozen sperm
that I never froze or maybe via an alien conception!
Click on the banner
below in order to see a clear picture outline of the real Shiloh
history!
So why would anyone
purchase a puppy from a dishonest breeder who is "claiming" that they
are producing "shilohs" when in fact they are using unproven GSD/mixed
lines? You can find mixes just like that for FREE! Be sure to read
Wall
of Shame!
All REAL Shiloh
Shepherds are bred as per the very strict ISSR rules and meticulous
Litter Mate X-Ray (LMX) data
that is maintained on all carefully selected
breeding stock.
Don't let anyone fool
you into paying a high price for an inferior product! Real Shiloh
Shepherds are
reasonably priced and produced by
ISSR Licensed Breeders from coast to coast!
Please check the websites
of these Long Haired German Shepherd kennels who are
breeding "old fashioned" "old world" German Shepherds:
These people do NOT try to pass their dogs off as "shilohs"
because they are proud of THEIR program! They are not out to
scam the public using fraudulent practices, because they can
be HONEST about their breeding stock!
Another great example of an honest breeder -
They too state that
<<We have been asked many times by perspective customers
about the Shiloh Shepherd and King Shepherd. These breeds
are not recognized by AKC, CKC nor UKC, but are accepted at
Rarities Shows. We have provided the following links to
answer your questions:
Shiloh Shepherd Breed:
HISTORY: The German Shepherds roots are in the mountain
sheepdog of Germany. In 1974 Tina Barber set out to restore
the German Shepherd breed. Focusing on large size,
intelligence, temperament, and hips she combined German
Shepherds and Alaskan Malamutes and changed her Kennel name
to " Shiloh Shepherds" which is where the breed gets it's
name.>> Please see:
http://www.largegermanshepherds.com/types.htm
There are dozens of
long haired German Shepherd kennels listed on the web, all you have to do is surf around
a bit! Most of these kennels produce puppies that will be a
lot bigger then what the slivers have to offer, and probably
healthier and with stable temperaments, for LESS money!
I
honestly believe that there WILL come a day that
these dogs will be recognized by the UKC - just
like the White Shepherds have already been
accepted! When that happens, I doubt if the UKC
will accept mixed pedigreed dogs, and the
slivers will be left out in the cold -- because
they have given up their chance for "pure breed"
recognition by playing all of those silly
games!!!
C. Local Yokels (GSD or GSD/mixes)
These dogs are listed as GSD or GSD/mixes with unknown ancestry.
They may have "some" GSD blood in them, but exact details cannot be
traced/verified. Dogs like these have often been seen on farms in
various parts of the country, and when such a dog has a litter, most
farmers are very happy to just find someone who would be willing to take
the pups! Be sure to read my little story on the
Wall of Shame!
Don't
let the frauds con you into paying thousands of dollars for one of these
dogs!! They are NOT 'shiloh shepherds' -- If you do nothing else,
be sure to read
Protecting Breed Development!
Then do a Google search for long haired German Shepherds! You will find
lots of ads for very cheap AKC pups. Don't get fooled into paying triple
for the same pups with FAKE papers!
These folks operate
under various "registry" names - just look at this
chart! Where is the accountability? How many "personal" computers
have handled their data? Even their pedigree site is loaded with ERRORS!
Once the REAL Shiloh Shepherd is recognized, all of this hanky panky
will be exposed!

All these "outcrosses" since 2002? Talk about mass
chaos! Where is the master plan for
HONEST breed development? Oh, that's
right - they never had one! Guess they don't have any idea as to WHERE
They are going, as long as they can con you into paying TOP DOLLAR for
their "pet quality" BYB
progeny!
So why would anyone
purchase a puppy from a dishonest breeder that is
"claiming" that they are producing "shilohs" when in
fact, they are using unproven GSD/mixed lines??
Whatever you do, never
fall for one of these mixes! Czech dogs are wonderful Schutzhund
competitors and police dogs, but they do not belong as pets with our
modern suburban households, whose owners usually are inexperienced as
attack dog trainers. If you are looking for a REAL Czech
competition/protection dog, then please contact
Alpine K-9.
Don't settle
for progeny out of unproven rejects that could endanger your family!
This website gives information about Czech Shepherds:
History of the Czechoslovakian frontier-police dogs.
As you can see, the original listing of
25 "outcrosses" being used in the FAKE shiloh camps has already
doubled in less than 7 months!
Please Note: If you take a
good look at their stud page you will notice that many are claiming "old
line" -- ANOTHER LIE!! Unless these dogs have a consistent "Shiloh"
pedigree [easily determined by looking at the actual prefixes (Shiloh or
Zion) listed] then they are NOT a product of "Shiloh
Shepherds" kennel and therefore cannot honestly claim that
distinction!
Get the facts -- look
at the original pedigrees!
When any German Shepherd Breeder looks
at a pedigree like this one, they will immediately notice three things.
1. There are NO titled dogs
listed - thus categorizing these dogs as "local yokels" at
best because you can clearly see that no show/working
titles [that are always proudly displayed by REB's interested in
breeding (America) Show quality stock or imported German working dogs]
are listed! BYB's that just breed for "pets" often don't adhere to any of the strict
testing - be it for health, conformation or working qualities -
and therefore tend to sell their pups in local papers for very low
prices - thereby the term "local yokels".
2. There are no OFA validations listed!
Since the PennHip program is a relatively new procedure, we must assume
that none of these dogs have proper HIP - ELBOW-Heart- etc.
certification! Furthermore, they obviously do not have any
LMX data
so how can these frauds DARE to claim that these dogs are "Shiloh
Shepherds"?
Please take some time to
read
3. Although the slivers
try to claim the term "outcross" as their reasoning for choosing to
breed sound Shiloh descendents to GSD's in order to improve
health, this is extremely misleading because health can ONLY be improved
by maintaining impeccable data on ALL littermates, especially if a
particular dog shows up more than once in a 4 generation pedigree! In
this case, they are linebreeding on "Ridland's Farramond - what is known
about this dog, his parents, progeny, etc.?
ISSR breeders have
access to a complete database and our continuous GTF research!
Beware of the
SCAMMERS!
In their attempt to pollute this breed
in Europe, the slivers have sent PURE GSD's disguised as Shiloh
Shepherds to people planning on breeding these dogs in order to get MORE
MONEY for their puppies!
If that's not bad enough, they are
bringing
Czech Working Dogs in to pollute the gene pool they are working
with here!
Why would anyone want to cross a
beautiful - gentle -oversized Shiloh Shepherd with a small hard driven
"police" dog? Even the Sch folks are laughing at this! The Czech Border
Patrol dogs are bred for a
specific purpose, and they should be sold into working homes that
can appreciate their exceptional talents!
Also be sure to note the quote
on the first page of their site
<<The ISSDC does not
validate the details of the information provided by the individual stud
owners. It is listed on good faith and provided as the first step in the
research process. It is the responsibility of individual breeders to
make contact with the stud owner and research their selections fully and
make their own decisions.>>
Shame on them! Claiming to have
"raised the bar" but not willing to back up the dogs that they are
promoting as breedable quality?? Wow!!
The ISSR has always provided HONEST
information about the dogs certified with our registry - because
we validate the information presented to us as per the
ISSR Rules!
The day will come when the ISSR will get
full recognition and the slivers will be left holding a bunch of
worthless papers! Even the Long Haired German Shepherd may someday get
recognition via the UKC, like the White Shepherds have done - but
without proper AKC papers the sliver dogs will be shut out of that door
too!

articles too!
The facts listed
below are being presented in an attempt to warn the public regarding the
fraudulent scams that they could encounter while investigating the
Shiloh Shepherd.
Although
these dogs, and thousands of others like them, may look
like "shilohs", they are not the real deal! If this
is what you're looking for, then please give one of them a
home, rather than spending thousands of dollars to buy one
from the frauds!
